The number one thing that makes
our
genealogy site different is that ‘We won’t
sell, rent or share your information with anyone!’. This is the main reason I decided to start my own site. I didn’t want to put my families information
out there for every one to use however they wished.
Secondly, a lot of
genealogy sites don’t let you put in all of the information you may want to,
such as whether the child is a natural child or an adopted child. Or they
don’t let you easily search for a woman by either her maiden or married name.
Some don’t allow you to put any ‘stories’ with the people they belong to.
Having your own website
provides you with a centralized depository
for your own research results.
You actually will have
access to five sites in total.
(1) The first one will be a free site,
where anyone can view an index of the names of the people, their nickname and years
of birth and death. You can check it out
by clicking
HERE
(2) The full website is “Our Ancestors From the
Prairie” which is a membership site to protect your privacy. This site will have the full information
available including any stories that the members or I have included about the
people. You can choose your subscription
option by clicking HERE
(3) The third site is also a membership
site, but there will be no cost, at least not right away. It will be a family photo gallery where
members will be able to create and upload their own photos and videos. They will be in control of who will be able
to view their gallery. This site is not
quite ready yet, it should be up in the next week or two...keep your eye on the
menu’s for it.
(4) The fourth site is blog where you can
post questions for others to answer and get reacquainted with family you may
have lost contact with. You will be able to join
the blog after you have joined the main website.
(5) The fifth site is for recipes that have
been handed down or we have just come to love.
You may access it
HERE. I haven’t had time to enter but a few recipes,
one is for the pie crust that my Mom always made. If
you have favorite family recipes you would like to have included, please send
them to me at
webmaster@kicslinksgroup.com
I am also working on an upcoming section or
corresponding website to highlight the many contributions that people from
Mercer County have made the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. I’m still working on the details.
I want to include all of the current
generation of cousins and their families as well as our ancestors.
Please share this with
any of your family members that would be interested in their genealogy.
